Traveling is a big passion for me. I love to visit new cities and walk around, see the buildings, and absorb as much as I can from each one. My parents traveled quite a bit so I must get it from them. My first flight was before I was even born!
I thought I’d share my top 10 with everyone. Over the next few months I will post a bit about them and include some of the pics I took while there. Hope you enjoy!
#10 – Athens
I went to Athens with my good friend Cecilia back in 2008, during their summer. From all historic architecture periods, the Greeks were my favorite. So, being able to visit this fantastic museum of a city, was a marvelous experience. We visited the Acropolis, and I could see all these buildings -that I had studied and loved- come to life before me. It was a very surreal experience.

e rode the underground, could see how greeks talk with their hands a lot, how wonderfully messy the city is and ate great food. During this trip, I started to love greek salad and olive oil!
I even learned one phrase of greek, to get us through driving around the roads leading to Delfos and other nearby places…
Συγνώμη, δεν μιλώ ελληνικά, μιλάω αγγλικά (Sygnómi, den miló elliniká, miláo angliká)
Which means: “Excuse me, I don’t speak greek, I speak English”. Worked like a charm to find someone who could understand us!*
*Now that Duolingo has launched Greek for English speakers I may pick it up again. Be sure to check it out if you are also interested in languages.
